An article by the International Business Times reveals that Europe is "emerging as the fastest growing MBA destination," according to the Graduate Management Admissions Council (GMAC). The findings were contained in a preview of the European Geographic Trends Report that GMAC will release in February 2011. The report revealed that during the five-year period beginning in 2006, the number of GMAT scores sent to European MBA programs increased by 90 percent to 85,000 GMAT scores. Worldwide, the number only increased by 30 percent.

Europe boasts popular MBA Destinations

The IBTimes Staff Reporter cited several additional data points revealed by the GMAC report. Among them:

  1. 80 percent of European applications were received by schools in Britain, France, Netherlands, and Spain
  2. 64 percent of the GMAT scores sent to Europe were from Indian and Chinese applicants

These statistics support the idea that European MBA programs attract students from around the world. Therefore the classroom experience is truly an international one, providing a global business perspective to business school students. While European business schools might be the fastest growing MBA destination, the U.S. is still top choice, receiving 600,000 GMAT scores.
