Graduates of MBA programs in Utah could look for job leads in local industries such as biotechnology, pharmaceutical manufacturing, medical device manufacturing, and environmental and agricultural technology. From 2000 through 2009, these industries grew by more than 27 percent. Utah also enjoys a strong presence in aerospace, agriculture, computers and communications, defense, mining and sugar production. Some of the industrial technology companies located in Utah produce aircraft control systems, aircraft and missile turbine engines, or rocket motors among other equipment. Industrial machinery contributes about $2.3 billion to the state's economy each year, Utah Industries of the Future reports.

Graduates of business schools in Utah have a wide array of industries in which to seek work. Major Utah cities with large employers include Salt Lake City, Provo and West Valley City. Huntsman, a Fortune 500 company, is located in Salt Lake City and produces chemicals for a global market. Huntsman is responsible for developing the Huntsman Cancer Institute and for contributing more than $26 million to Utah State University to expand and enhance the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business. Salt Lake City, with a population of more than 180,000 people, is recovering economically and could be a place for an MBA graduate to discover a business career.
